“I HATE HOSPITALS!” she screamed as we exited the ER. She stormed off briskly walking home leaving me behind not looking back. I tested positive for COVID. I couldn’t keep up with her pace. I was feeling lethargic and getting winded from walking. I know hospitals make her anxious. She was terrified. I couldn’t yell after her. All I could feel was myself silently screaming after her, mouthing the words, “don’t leave me.”
I finally made it home, and she was gone.
